Soccer
Playing soccer (and even watching soccer) is one of the most active sports you’ll encounter. There’s so much going on: tons of running, directional changes, lateral movements, quick pivots – even just being in the stands and watching the players sprint back and forth could give you whiplash (kidding)! Soccer players are pretty incredible, but that unfortunately also means they could sustain some pretty incredible injuries as well.
Some of the most common injuries in soccer players include:
- ACL injuries
- Meniscus Tears
- MCL Tears
- LCL Tears
- PCL Tears
- IT Band Syndrome
- Knee Dislocation
- Ankle Sprains
- Hip Labral Tears
- Hamstring Strains
- Quad Tears
- Concussions
The quick changes in direction are what can really do you in as a soccer player, but the other common injuries in soccer are just as important to be aware of. Youth and college athletes, particularly female athletes, who play soccer are especially prone to these injuries, given the competitive nature of the sport and the fact that a scholarship may be on the line if they’re playing at the collegiate level. Still, that’s never a good reason to sacrifice your safety or your health.
Learning how to play the game to prevent injuries in soccer is pivotal (see what we did there) but so is knowing where to go if you get injured during soccer. It’s essential to have a reliable physical therapist you can call in the event of a soccer injury.
Next Level Physio deals with sports injuries on a regular basis. We see soccer players come through our doors all the time, not because they’re careless but because of the rigors of the sport.
